Counseling Psychology Students Participate in Inaugural Statewide Mental Health Summit

Rutherford, N.J. – On October 8, a dedicated group of students from the Master’s and Doctor of Counseling Psychology programs participated in the New Jersey Office of the Secretary of Higher Education (OSHE)’s inaugural Student Mental Health Summit held at Kean University. The event aimed to address pressing mental health issues affecting students across the state.

Organized by Dr. Nouriman Ghahary and Dr. Marcela Farfan, the summit brought together a diverse cohort of participants, with our students being chosen from a competitive pool of 200 applicants. The summit focused on fostering discussions around mental health awareness, resources, and strategies for improving the well-being of students in higher education.

Attendees engaged in workshops and panel discussions led by experts in the field, exploring innovative approaches to mental health care. This opportunity not only allowed students to gain valuable insights but also to contribute their perspectives on enhancing mental health support within academic institutions.
